Chasing What Now? Lifehacks! Awesome, Let’s Try and Write my First Blog Post !

Here it goes… My first blog post 😱

It’s a little nerve-racking to be writing my first blog post, but truth is, I’ve always liked writing. Whether in primary school, high school or college (maybe a little less in college… being a rebellious teen might’ve had something to do with that… ) or even later in the everyday adult life, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed putting time into writing and re-writing, and re-re-writing and so on… So much that it has even created teeny-tiny unnecessary tensions between my partner and I…

”You’re not writing for the Queen of England!! It’s not a dissertation!! It doesn’t need to be perfect!! ”

– My loving partner

He gets so annoyed when I read or translate his emails… Takes too much time… 😁 Ohhh but I love him dearly. And so I might, perhaps, mayyybe, try being less of a perfectionist when writing his emails… Maybe… We’ll see. I’ll try to work on that…

Instead of perfecting the art of couch-potato, I want to write my first blog post

Anyway, I’ve always liked writing. And lately, I’ve been looking for a creative way to occupy free time. Ways that could keep me away from binge-watching TV shows and perfecting the art of couch-potatoing.
I’ve come across a few posts on Pinterest mentioning blogging as a side-line and so I started seriously looking into it. Plus, there’s a possibility of generating some extra money, which, you know, I wont’ say no to…! But whether this side line becomes a side hustle, only time (and, apparently, a lot of it!) will tell. But truthfully, I’m just looking for an outlet for my thoughts.

I like writing… Now what ?

Facepalm as I try to write my first blog post

I’ll have you know, the first thing you have to ask yourself when starting a blog is, well… What the *bleep* do I write about ?!? So, I started an Excel sheet. It had ”Catherine’s blog” written up top (wow). And then, words like ”Dog”, ”Air fryer”, ”Procrastination”, ”Motorcycle”, ”Art”, appeared in an unorderly fashion on my blank sheet… Hum.
Staring at that screen, it took me thirty seconds to think I should forget the blog idea. Way to much pressure and no clue what to write about.

This website helped me brainstorm blogging ideas, check it out if you find yourself glaring at your weird Excel sheet just like me.

Whilst rethinking the whole blogging idea, I was talking to my partner about it, and it came to mind how I praise communication as being the most underestimated tool in any relationship, and yet I am so very bad at it! Not only do I always struggle to find the right words, but I genuinely struggle with knowing how, when and what to say or should say. But give me a pen and paper and an hour (maybe 2 or 3 really) and my thoughts and ideas will come out in a much more orderly manner than if my mouth were the one to organize them.

So I grabbed another coffee, sat back and wondered why I was doing this again. Oh yeah, ”I’ve always liked writing” followed by ”I need a creative outlet” came back to mind. So, I closed my Excel sheet and decided I was going to write whatever it was that my brain wanted to dish out. Relationships, dogs, tips and tricks, food, book reviews, bowl movements, hair stuff and everything in between.

So, why Chasing Lifehacks ?

In my opinion, a lifehack is knowing the greatest invention on earth is the air fryer, or knowing you should remove your window screens for winter or perhaps knowing you should not be leaving your tampon-filled garbage in your dog’s reach. They come in all shapes and sizes. Ways to make life easier and most enjoyable.

From how to kill it this Christmas with the gift shopping to how to go faster safely on a motorcycle track.
From how to do your gel nails yourself to how to train your dog.
From how to make a relationship work to how to best take care of long bleached hair.

As I write my first blog post, I realize that my everyday life pretty much consists of discovering lifehacks and applying them and ultimately making a sincere effort to make the best out of any situation. I’m in my early thirties, so I do have quite a few accumulated, but more importantly, I have much more to learn.

My goal is to publish one post every week !
I’m holding myself to it…
